Mary
Abe is a registered landscape architect and LEED AP who is the vision behind
landscapeadvice.com. As a native Washingtonian, she is devoted to
promoting aesthetic sustainable landscape design which will protect and foster
biohabitats and wildlife sanctuary. She is driven by her
personal passion for artfully integrating nature and man.
Her plantings
create soft flowing lines to compliment carefully designed outdoor
entertainment elements such as arbors, water gardens, and terraces. Her works
are often noted for their unique style, elegance, and technique. Mary has
developed an innovative style that aesthetically blurs the line between natural
habitat and garden. When designing a project, she steadfastly adheres to the
principal that form should follow function. This makes her work an
excellent choice for a wide range of projects and purposes. Though Mary is
accomplished in creating traditional gardens, her attentions have
increasing turned to more sustainable landscape elements and practices.
Boulders and moss gardens are her favorite medium for creating private outdoor
rooms to experience the beauty of nature in suburban spaces. Her use of
native planting and regional hardscape materials create spaces which relate to
the local building vernacular as well as foster local habitat.
